Abstract
Flexible work arrangement (FWA) deals with workplace dynamism and complexity driven by
globalization and transformation of workers diversity and interests. Despite the significance of
FWA to increase positive work behaviour and productivity, most organizations in Nigeria are yet
to consider FWA as an important strategy for managing workforce flexibility during crisis
situations. The lack of FWA capacity and technology ascribed many organizations to the
traditional arrangement which threatens worker personal lives and performance. Thus, this
inquiry examine the influence of FWA on the job performance of employees in Federal Capital
Territory (FCT), Abuja. It examine the effect of different work pattern, job sharing, flexi working
hours and telecommuting on the job performance of employees in FCT Abuja. It utilize
descriptive survey design, questionnaire data from a sample of 353 workers in FCT Abuja and
structural Equation Model (SEM) via Smart-PLS to validate the formulated hypotheses in line
with the objectives. Findings reveal that different work pattern, job sharing, and flexi-working
hours have significant positive effect while telecommuting has insignificant positive effect on the
job performance of workers in FCT Abuja. It concludes that FWA factors has significant effect
on the job performance of workers in FCT Abuja. It was recommended that organizations should
promote alternative work schedules, task flexibility, and roles switching. Also, workers freedom
to decide starting and ending work time should be encouraged. Additionally, workers should be
encouraged to share workload allowing them to work part-time. Finally, telecommuting with the
provision of necessary tools and support should be encouraged.
