Abstract

The search for economic growth has necessitated most African countries’ search for more foreign investors who could come and establish their firms in most of these countries so as to impact on the GDP of the host country.Nigeria, being an African country with the highest human resources by virtue of its population, is not an exception to this notion. As such, many foreign investors establish their business firms with the hope of making profit and also impacting on the economic growth of the country. However, the management of human resources in a country like Nigeria has always been a subject of debate. It is against this backdrop that this study examines the implication of Chinese firms on human resource management in Nigeria. Some of the objectives of this study are: to expose the complex relationship between the Chinese firms’ human resource management in China and Chinese firms’ human resource management in Nigeria with a view to understand the dynamism. To do this, the researcher adopted human relations theory to provide an analytical guide. In order to achieve the objective of this paper, the study adopted content analysis as the methodology for the study. Some of the research findings in this work indicate that there is more excessive exploitation of workers in Nigeria with a little salary in the Chinese firms in Nigeria than in China. There is also poor motivation and corruption compared to Chinese firms in china. The study recommends that the government should bring about a policy that will reduce the level of exploitation by the Chinese firms. In addition, human capital development should be encouraged by the Nigerian government.
